How to archive copies of the DOS print jobs for later reprinting

In the previous video, we've seen how to print an invoice from a DOS program to a PDF file by including different background forms on the different pages via the optional CFG file.

In this video, we'll see how to automatically archive the DOS print jobs with Printfil so that you can see and/or reprint them at a later date.

Preparation:

  • We've created a new empty folder to be used as an archive
  • Go to Configuration -> Standard
  • then Options -> Archiving
  • Insert the archiving path e click OK

That's all. Now:

  • Print the DOS invoice to LPT1:
  • Printfil captures it and you can print it or export it to PDF
  • but this time it has also been saved in the archive (including the CFG, used to merge the background image)
  • Now print another DOS report
  • Once again Printfil captures it
  • and it has been archived too (without CFG since there's no background)

At a later time:

  • Right-click the Printfil's trayed icon
  • Choose Redo Last Print -> Archiving
  • Select an old print job to reprint
  • and you can send it even on a different printer / PDF then the one originally used
