Printfil 5.6: Easier registration. Quicker PDF creation. Vista automatic elevation

we're pleased to announce the release of Printfil 5.6.

News:

• In addition to entering the license keys by the GUI registration dialog, now Printfil can be registered even by importing a PFL file (Printfil Licenses File), which is provided you at purchase time. A single PFL file can contain multiple licenses. Now feeding 1, 10, or 100 Printfil licenses into a server is as easy as dragging the PFL file and dropping it on the Printfil's desktop icon, without having to type any code.
• Improved the creation of the "Printfil" virtual printer. When running it on Windows Vista, now Admin elevation is automatically requested you, without having to "run Printfil as Administrator" in advance.
  
• Quicker PDF creation by the "Printfil" virtual printer. Particularly slow systems which sometimes did show the "File not found or corrupted" message will react more quickly.
• A new DelayStartup option allows you delaying Printfil's startup of some seconds. This might be useful to ensure that other programs in the "Start -> All Programs -> Startup" folder or complex logon scripts will complete before Printfil starts.
• Added recognition for the Ascii-8 (backspace) control code when printing in GDI mode. Some legacy programs used to send a chr(8) to move the printhead backward on a dot-matrix printer. 
• Improved the function that autofits the font to the page in GDI mode (Columns=0 in Printfil.ini or cfg). Some combinations of printer drivers and resolutions previously could make the rightmost column being cutted out.
• Now the LPT_Timeout Windows parameter can be easily modified by the Printfil's configuration dialog, without having to manually edit the Windows Registry. Please find more info about this parameter in the article: How to make DOS programs printing faster in Windows
• Some other minor improvements.

The upgrade is free for all the Customers who are actually using the 5.x version, by using the same license codes. You just need to download and install the new Printfil setup program (or leave the AutoUpdate program doing it automatically)

If you are still using an old 4.3 version, purchased since 7 Nov 2005 (date of its release), you've right to the free upgrade too, but even your license codes needs to be upgraded (Printfil 5 uses different codes than Printfil 4). The AutoUpdate program will guide you through the update process and will automatically update all what's needed. If the automatic check has been disabled, simply right-click the Printfil's trayed icon and choose "Search for updates".

If you've purchased previous 4.x licenses from 2003 to 2005, for a limited time only, you can still upgrade them to the newest version simply by purchasing Printfil Upgrade licenses at discounted prices. Don't miss this opportunity! it will expire soon!
