Printfil 5.34: Capture prints from external equipment via a serial cable

Dear Client,

I'm pleased to announce to you the new Printfil 5.34 release.

What's new:

• By popular demand: Direct support for RS-232 serial port capturing!
  It's finally here! You can now capture prints sent to a serial printer by external equipment (such as medical devices or industrial machinery) just by connecting them directly to your Windows machine via a simple null-modem cable.

• When Printfil starts, it automatically detects if a print-supported DOSBox variant is installed on the machine. If it isn't configured to redirect all its prints to Printfil, a brief notification appears in the bottom-right corner of your screen. If you prefer to disable this check, simply click the notification and select "No" when asked if you want to see the message again
  
  
• Enhanced support for the latest GhostScript / GhostPCL version 10.07.1, enabling faster PDF creation and smoother print job processing when using the PCL printing engine
  
  
• Fixed a minor bug in LPT port capturing on older 32-bit Windows systems.
  Resolved an issue where the port was occasionally not released upon exiting Printfil
  
  
• Some other minor improvements

If you're currently using a previous 5.x version, the previous license codes are still valid even for the new version. You just need to download and install the new Printfil setup program (or leave the AutoUpdate program doing it automatically) without uninstalling the current version first.

If instead you are still using a very old 4.3 version, purchased up to 23 Apr 2006, the license codes need to be upgraded to the 5.x version. Simply right-click the Printfil's trayed icon, choose "Search for updates" and the AutoUpdate program will guide you further.
