How to change the font size when printing from DOS

When printing in GDI mode, Printfil normally autofits the font to the page (like set into the Windows printer driver), minus the page margins (like set into the Printfil configuration).

This way your DOS prints will be always correctly printed, independently by the chosen destination printer, paper size, and page margins, but sometimes you may want to have the font size look more similar to the old DOS prints.

This video shows how to change the default behavior.

Let's go:

  • Print a narrow DOS print
  • It's enlarged to the sheet (unlike in DOS)
  • Setup a fixed number of columns
  • Print from DOS again
  • Now it's narrower (like in DOS)
  • Change some page margins
  • Print from DOS again
  • The DOS print is moved on the sheet
