Three methods to print from DOS to TXT files

In this video, we see 3 ways to print from DOS to a text file with Printfil, with or without user intervention.

1st method - Print preview (full user intervention):

  • Print from DOS to LPT1:
  • Printfil captures the print job
  • Click the Create TXT icon in print preview and choose your preferred file name / location
  • Here is your text file

2nd method - FILE: printer (limited user intervention):

  • Now disable Preview and choose the FILE: printer
  • Print from DOS again
  • This time you're asked only for the file name

3rd method - Archiving (no user intervention):

  • Now enable the Archiving path
  • It's shown near FILE:
  • Look at the folder
  • Now DOS print jobs are saved as TXT without user intervention
